We just kicked off a new session of the Vanilla JS Academy on . The level of engagement is unprecedented! The Slack community is so active. I'm so happy to see that vanilla JS is really starting to gain some traction. ❤️

When I was in college, one of my tutors asked me "you know what they say about stupid questions?"

Wondering where he was going with this, I recalled the toxic advice my stepdad once gave me.

"...If you ask a stupid question, you'll get a stupid answer?" I asked hesitantly.

"No," he exclaimed, looking genuinely shocked. "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask."

It's stuck with me ever since. I say the same thing to all the new members of our Vanilla JS Slack community.

There's far too much hostility and gatekeeping in the web development community. I hate forums like Stack Overflow, because beginners are all too often made to feel stupid for asking a simple question.

We thrive on lifting each other up, not tearing each other down. So, teach everything you know. Be vulnerable and forget your ego. We're all in this together. 🤗

I'll leave you with this...

“Remember, success is a journey, not a destination. Have faith in your ability. You will do just fine.”
